Welcome!   This is a compendium of selected items from a variety
of newspapers and journals published in New Zealand
in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Do these 'old' newspapers have any relevance today?  Most certainly they do!

There are many informative, entertaining and educational articles in these
newspapers that are as relevant today as they were more than one hundred years
ago - and some of the items you read will surprise you as to their accuracy and
usefulness today.

These newspapers are a valuable resource that is not only useful to adults but also
to children of all ages who are keen to learn not only about historical events but also
like reading stories and poetry written for children and have an interest in games
such as chess and draughts (checkers).
The articles in these journals cover not only local news but
stories from all over the world - especially Europe, USA, Australia
and China.  Much of the historical info relates to NZ.
